Performance
The new PC50MR-2 short tail delivers optimum performance and digging speed in confi ned spaces: yards, road works, demolition work, sewers where conventional machines can't operate. Stumpness and excellent stability ensure safety and confidence in any condition.
Versatility
Many available confi gurations allow the operator to choose the right machine for special use: short or long arm, cab or canopy, rubber or steel shoes;
Additional Counterweight
The ability to quickly add and remove the counterweight allows rebuild into the PC50MR-2 from 0-tail to Short Tail and vice-versa, thus meeting special job site requirements.

Maintenance
All periodic inspection points are easily accessed through the engine bonnets. The fuel and hydraulic oil tanks are located under the side hood, in a safe and easy-to-reach position. In addition, exceptional maintenance can be performed by simply tilting up the cab: Under ground allows the operator to direct all major hydraulic components such as the main valve or swing motor. ORFS hydraulic roof seal connectors and DT electrical connections improve machine reliability and facilitate repairs easier and faster. Special technical solutions have allowed for up to 500 hours of setting intervals for most normal maintenance work, such as pin lubrication or engine oil changes. To avoid also possible leaks, all tanks are equipped with an emptying hose: this confi rms once again KOMATSU pays attention to the environment.
Engine
The KOMATSU engine delivers the required power and keeps fuel consumption very low. By utilizing state-of-the-art technologies, it ensures minimum noise and emissions (STAGE 2).

The CLSS (Closed Load Sensing System)
Hydraulic circuit guarantees power, speed and perfect control for all movements, including the combined. The main feature of this system is the connection between two variable displacement pumps and the closed centre circuit with load sensing which allows operators to perform all movements with maximum effi ciency, regardless of the load or these characteristics are highlighted by the hydraulic servo controls that are far easiest to operate and require minimal efforts to carry out extremely precise manoeuvres.
Automatic Shift Down
Once turned on, this device automatically adjusts the hydraulic travel motor to work conditions: maximum adjustment for faster movements, minimum displacement for upper tractive pull. This process requires no operator support.

X-Frame
The new cast type X frame ensures maximum stress resistance and optimum stress distribution; this shape makes the machine much stiffer and more reliable. In addition, it facilitates normal undercarriage cleaning operations and spoil removal.

Comfort
Despite its compact size, the PC50MR-2 offers unparalleled comfort: spacious cab, proportional servo controls PPC for all movements, sliding door, gas spring assisted front window, storage drawbar, hooks, cup holder, courtesy lamp as well as radio and air conditioning on demand.

The spacious cab was designed with exceptional care for details, making the working environment noiseless and comfortable. Special attention has been paid to internal arrangement: ergonomic and special PPC controls; speed switch on panel instead of pedal which thus provides more room; adjustable seat; gas spring assisted front window opening; efficient heating & ventilation system. Air conditioning is provided upon request and guarantees optimum thermal comfort year-round. Last but not least, the upper rail type sliding door allows you to get in/out very easily and safely in any situation.
