Engine

Control Panel

Conveniently located in the right side control console are ignition switch, engine throttle, service monitor check button, engine stop button, control shut down switch, AM-FM radio and switches for wiper, heater fan, working lights, selectable fine control, digging mode select, manual throttle and emergency bypass switches.

Mode Select

The mode selection system enables the operator to program the machine’s speed to the job application. The operator can select three modes according to the job conditions: H-Heavy Duty (digging in rocky conditions, dense material). 100% of the engine horsepower is made available for maximum power in the ditch. S-Standard (general excavation, loading trucks). 85% of the engine horsepower is made available to match the machine to the application and conserve fuel. L-Lifting (setting pipe, placing manholes). 65% of the engine horsepower is made available for jobs where accuracy and safety are valued over speed.

One Touch Decelerator

Increased fine control and fuel savings can be realized by using the exclusive fine control selection system. The operator can select from three engine idle speeds: 1000 rpm for fine inching, 1200 rpm for setting pipe, or 1500 rpm for fine grading. At the touch of a button, the engine will automatically return to high idle for power and speed when the operator is ready to return to normal digging.

Hydraulic and electronic system

SCM Monitor

The SCM (Service Check Maintenance) monitor advises the operator on all critical machine functions at a glance. Both audio and visual warnings indicate low water, high engine temperature and engine oil pressure. Indicator lights monitor mode selection system, fine control, swing brake, glow plug, air intake restriction, two-speed travel and battery fluid level. Three bar gauges monitor fuel level, water temperature and hydraulic oil temperature.

Computer Aided Power System (CAPS)

The LS-2650 C-Series II CAPS hydraulic system with its variable volume/pressure compensated piston pumps and pilot controls provide smooth operation and maximum horsepower utilization. Fuel consumption is minimized by the digging and fine control mode selection systems and the integral Automatic Pump Destroking (APD) feature. Pump flows are automatically reduced to minimum output when control levers are in the neutral position. These systems save fuel and eliminate wasted engine and hydraulic power plus extend component life. The CAPS system enables the operator to simultaneously operate the swing, travel and attachment for full function control of the machine. This feature plus the automatic high speed arm and boom-hoist result in fast cycle times and increased production.

Cab

Lift-up Arm Rest

Left arm rest lifts up out of the way providing outstanding operator ease in entering or exiting cab. For safety, when arm rest is raised all upper control functions become inactive.

Maximum Window Area

The C-Series II cab is designed to provide maximum visibility for the operator with its full view front window and lower right and left hand windows.

Equipment

Serviceability

Servicing the LS-2650 is simplified by the use of wide opening doors and a torsion bar assisted engine hood. Standard quick disconnects for pressure checking and lube fittings for attachment provide quick routine maintenance.
