More powerful engine
We have upgraded the engine from 13HP to 17HP, giving the U17 more power and reliability that your work requires. In addition to its superior horsepower and performance it also offers low noise and vibration levels, exceptional fuel effi ciently complying with EPA 2008 Tier IV emission regulations.
Two-pattern Selection System (TPSS)
A quick spiral of a lever lets you switch operating patterns from ISO to SAE or vice versa.
General maintenance
Wide-opening covers allow easy access to the engine oil gauge, coolant reserve tank and two-element air cleaners. Access to fuel filter and water separator, battery, radiator and oil cooler is also simple. Two-piece hose connections for dozer and boom cylinders simplify hose replacement, reduce downtime virtually eliminating the need of getting into the machine during maintenance work.

Improved pump capacity
We have increased the capacity of the hydraulic pump to 11.9 GPM (45 (cid:67)/min), giving you the boost of versatility you need for a variety of jobs.

Auxiliary hydraulic system
The U17 Auxiliary Hydraulics System provides room for a variety of attachments such as breakers and augers. Standard equipment includes port pipes on the arm, bi-directional auxiliary hydraulic controls plus one control valve. Additional hydraulic connections are within easy reach including short hoses that may be less confusing.

Like many higher quality excavators, the U17 features double-flange track rollers and short paved rubber crawlers for improved undercarriage durability. The stability dual-flange track rollers contribute to improving travel stability and performance, and the short-stitched rubber crawlers help minimize vibration while traveling to improve operator comfort. With the U17, a day at work always goes smoothly.
Variable track width
The U17 features a hydraulic track gauge that can be set to between 3'3" and 4'1" (990 mm and 1,240 mm). With the touch of a single lever, you can reduce track dimensions to navigate tight spaces or increase it to improve functionality.
Improved travel motor
Kubota has upgraded the travel motor of the U17, resulting in a 10% traction increase when operating at low speed.
2-speed travel switch
By setting the 2-speed travel switch on the dozer lever, dozing operations have become faster and easier. The new site also releases space on the ground for improved operator comfort.
Protected motor hoses
For added protection Kubota has enclosed the travel motor hoses within the track frame, resulting in reduced repair costs and increased durability.
Protected front hoses
For greater protection, the front hoses on the U17 are routed inside the arm. This design also improves operator visibility, increases hose service life and lowers repair costs.

High-back suspension seat
The deluxe high back seat of the U17 increases productivity by providing optimum comfort to operators of all sizes.
Wrist rests
Adjustable wrist rests help reduce arm movement and increase operator comfort for greater work efficiency.
Wider foot area
The wider foot area of the U17 improves operator comfort more roomy than many conventional rear swing excavators. The result is less fatigue due to operation and greater work efficiency.
Boom cylinder
Above the boom, the boom cylinder is safely located during breakage or dumping operations. The cylinder design features a larger diameter rod and increased hydraulic pressure for greater lifting force and optimal front attachment speeds.
Hydraulics maintenance
The under-deck hydraulics can be accessed quickly and easily for routine maintenance. There are no bolts to screw off, but only lift up the rubber mat and open the floor plate.

ROPS/FOPS canopy
The ROPS and FOPS protective canopy meet the current ISO, SAE and OSHA standards.They provide complete protection from accidental rollovers and falling objects, ensuring an additional level of safety at work.
