The new ZAXIS mini excavator range offers high productivity, excellent fuel efficiency and durability on a variety of construction projects. The ZAXIS 17U and 19U are designed specifically for work in narrow or confined spaces as well as for utility companies, foundation works, landscaping and interior demolition respectively design. Lightweight and compact they can be easily transported from one site to the other. COMFORT
Operator comfort was a top priority for Hitachi design engineers when they started working on the new ZAXIS 17U and 19U mini excavators. Although the machines had to be compact to fit into tight and confined areas, the cab needed to provide a spacious and pleasant work climate. This has been achieved through improved visibility from wide and luxurious seat by incorporating user-friendly features and creating greater sense of space than previous Hitachi models.
Comfort Enhanced visibility
The new ZAXIS 17U and 19U mini excavators feature a wide and adjustable sliding suspension seat, surrounded by user-friendly controls within easy reach. Noise levels are lower even in dozer design than previous models and competitor machines; this allows work to be done conveniently. The three post canopy design (compared to four posts on some competitive models) provides improved visibility of the job site. This is especially important at busy jobsites and confined spaces to ensure operator safety and avoid unnecessary damage to the machine. It also works with ROPS and OPG Top Guard (Stage 1).

They allow you to clean quickly and easily, as well as routine maintenance in order to ensure a high degree of uptime and optimum performance wherever you work. Enhanced durability
The new ZAXIS mini excavator is capable of working in tough conditions thanks to improvements such as boom cylinder guard, V-shaped cylinder cover and D-frame.
Quick and easy service access
The new ZAXIS features wide covers that are easy to open and the radiator and oil cooler are conveniently located side by side.
Greater durability
The new ZAXIS mini excavators are extremely reliable, thanks to a number of new and improved features. The front side of the machine is highly load-bearing and equipped with an boom cylinder guard. They feature a new V-shaped boom cylinder cover with two bolts for added durability. The bucket hose is stored in the arm and the front hose split for easier replacement. Both the ZAXIS 17U and 19U have a large opening designed to lubricate the track adjuster making this process quick and easy. HN bushing requires front greasing at 500 hours and shovel circumferential lubrication at 100 hours. Hitachi has also upgraded the rubber crawlers as regards increased durability. The dimensions of tube and pipe have been finely matched to prevent oil leaks. A double clamshell and screw type test valve was introduced to increase the reliability of the new ZAXIS mini excavator.
Easy access
Parts requiring daily inspection can be easily accessed thanks to two redesigned covers on the new ZAXIS 17U and 19U.The engine vertically covers slides for quick and easy maintenance in confined areas and tight job sites.
Quick refuelling
The radiator cover opens wide with a single push mechanism that uncovers the radiator and oil cooler, which have been arranged side by side to achieve higher cooling effi ciency and for easy cleaning. Enlarged intake openings also increase cooling effectiveness, allowing the excavator to be used many hours on tough jobsites without overheating. The ZAXIS 17U and 19U can be refuelled more easily than previous Hitachi models thanks to a redesigned tank cover and more space around the fuel tank opening. A larger fuel screen (50 mm diameter identical to the ZAXIS 33U) has also been added to prevent an overflow of fuel.
