A well-balanced arm and bucket provides an operator with efficient digging force. In addition, setting the maximum operating pressure to 24.5 MPa has increased each digging force by 15% in order to make even tough digging work faster.
Air conditioning (Optional)
The new optional deluxe air conditioning/heating of the cab can increase cooling, heating and ventilation for greater climate control. In addition, external air can be introduced with a touch of the external air vent.

Engine / Driveline and transmission

Kubota engine
Kubota's unique New E-TVCS (Three Vortex Combustion System) enables high energy output, low vibration and low fuel consumption. It also minimises exhaust emissions. Among a variety of Kubota engine models highly proven on the compact equipment market, the KX121-3αopted is for the most suitable engine for its machine size in both performance and economy.
Auto Idling System (AI)
If no high engine rpm is needed, or if control levers stay in neutral for more than 4 seconds, the idle system automatically reduces the engine to idling rpm. When re-moving the levers, motor speed is promptly reset to selectable RPM. This innovative feature not only decreases noise and exhaust emissions but also saves fuel, energy and running costs.
When levers are moved again...
Informative, interactive and functional. Kubota's Intelligent Control System stops you in line with the vital signs of the KX121-3α. It accurately shows diagnosis of current working conditions and warning indicators for engine speed and hour meter as well as fuel values, temperatures and oil levels. When filling up using fuel, our panel also informs the operator that the tank is almost full; it also alerts the operator during routine maintenance. Overall, the Panel reduces excavator downtime and repair fees due to a decrease in total operating costs.

Hydraulics

Four simultaneous operations
When simultaneously operating boom, arm, bucket and swing as when loading on trucks or lifting the pump distributes sufficient oil flow to each actuator according to the height of lever lift without loss of speed or power; this ensures high performance digging and dozing at all times.
Third line hydraulic return
The third line hydraulic return enables higher oil flow efficiency by reducing back pressure when working with hydraulically actuated attachments such as a hydraulic hammer.
New load sensing hydraulic system
Kubota introduces an advanced hydraulic system that gives a better effect on the operating feel and less fuel consumption. With this new load sensing system, the hydraulic oil flow is supplied from just one variable displacement pump. Load information to each actuator are returned to the pump at all times making it much smoother depending on the height of the lever stroke distributes the appropriate oil flow into each actuator. This achieves equal movement to the hydraulic cylinder regardless of different stress situations in relation to the lever lift. This makes work like lifting and levelling considerably smoother. In addition, when neutralizing the operator control lever, the pump stops supply with unnecessary oil flow. Meaning that the pump only needed oil flow is delivered. Thus, through this load sensing hydraulic system excess energy waste is minimised as excessive oil return flows do not come up against the hydraulic tank. Compared to conventional models, around 20% fuel can be saved for similar tasks.
Control levers
Appropriate lever lift and ergonomically designed wrist rests provide greater controllability, smoother operation while reducing operator fatigue.
Straight travel
The New Hydraulic Matching System (New-HMS) ensures safer loading/discharge and easier unscrewing, even while operating any other circuit.
Proportional flow auxiliary switch
Repositioned from ground level, a convenient thumb operation switch allows easy operation of auxiliary equipment such as the auger and tipping bucket.
Hydraulic system
Pressure accumulator, Hydraulic pressure test ports, Straight travel circuit, third line hydraulic recirculation, auxiliary switch on right control lever.

Conveniently mounted on the dozer lever, the repositioned 2-Speed Travel Switch allows advanced user-friendly travel speed changes, increased space conditions, improved operation as well as greater control and comfort.
Rubber crawler
On the KX121-3α, rubber crawler design has better durability and stability when traveling. The lug pattern with more ground contact surface and steel core positioning is designed for better standing capacity and less vibration during travel. In addition, double flange track rollers contribute to better machine stability.
