Engine

Designed for increased productivity while keeping fuel and maintenance at a minimum, the tough Detroit Diesel 12V-71T turbocharged engine is built to meet the demands of today's construction industry. The responsive power of this engine means reaching peak power under load faster than comparable competitive engines. Pistons are of crosshead design, adding to the life of rings, liner and piston. The new turbocharger design contributes as much as 9% improvement in fuel economy.

Allison "Soft-Shift" Transmission

The CRT-7033 transmission provides smooth, immediate acceleration under any load and terrain condition and permits quick, full power shifts in all speed ranges. Operator's duties are limited to the selection of the direction and speed range. He can concentrate on steering and on the implement controls resulting in higher productivity. The hydraulic cushion inherent in the Allison torque converter reduces shock and strain on the engine, axles, and drive line components helping to keep vehicle downtime to a minimum.

All-Wheel Drive for Ground-Gripping Traction

Double-reduction drive axles, front and rear, provide speed reduction and torque multiplication at the differential and at the planetary final drives. Final torque multiplication is accomplished directly at the point of application, so torque loads through the drivetrain are reduced. A 5.12:1 differential ratio provides excellent torque for good crowding and digging characteristics. Vehicle weight is carried by the spindle, so the axle serves only to transmit torque from the differential to the planetary. For ease of servicing, planetaries are outboard mounted.

Rugged, Reliable Hydraulic System

The 90C hydraulic system is responsive and fast, developed from TEREX experience in extreme operating conditions and engineered for dependability and ease of service. The control levers are located to the operator’s right. The levers operate a pilot-pressure actuated control valve. This pilot hydraulic pressure operates the main hydraulic valve which is capable of control ranging from a slow, metered response, or a quick actuation with no reaction delay.

The ROPS Cab

The ROPS Cab offers safety for the operator. The isolation mounting and the use of sound reduction materials keep noise levels low for the operator. The optional heating and air conditioning systems provide a climate controlled environment. Tinted glass, windshield wipers front and rear, large doors for quick access from either side, and large outside mirrors are some of the features of the ROPS Cab.

Operator's Compartment

Designed and arranged to provide ease and comfort for increased productivity, the multiple position adjustment of the tilt and telescopic steering column, the fully adjustable seat, the conveniently located controls, and well identified and easily readable instrumentation are just some of the features of the operator's compartment which reduce operator fatigue.

Dual Air Brake System

The 90C is equipped with front and rear caliper disc brakes for high performance and safety. The air/hydraulic actuated service brakes comply with OSHA and SAE Standard J1152. If the pressure in the primary air reservoir drops, a warning alarm sounds to alert the operator. With a further pressure drop, the emergency/parking brake system automatically actuates. Manual controls are conveniently located in the cab.

TEREX Pivot Steer

Highly efficient TEREX Pivot-Steer provides a full 46° of bucket swing with only 30° of tail swing for easier spotting during loading and dumping, and reduced cycle distance and time. In tight-quarter work, rear fender clearance is no problem as the outside front tire has cleared since rear tires track inside front tires and all tires track inside the width of the bucket. In addition, unlike center-point-articulated loaders, the 90C design minimizes the tendency to bog down in ruts made by the front tires.

Selection of Buckets

Bucket recommendations shown below are based on a full SAE heaped load at the material density indicated. When selecting the proper bucket for a specific application, other factors must also be considered. These include loadability and heaping characteristics of the material, terrain and other pertinent job conditions.
