The unit injector system provides individually metered high-pressure, direct-injection of fuel for maximum efficiency. A high displacement-to-power ratio ensures long life and exceptional reliability. Additionally, a large oil cooler reduces oil deterioration and varnishing of internal parts, while a low-mounted oil pump allows for quicker start-up lubrication. Dual fuel filters and a water separator offer superior protection for the unit injection system, and it meets U.S. EPA emissions standards. An air inlet heater helps with cold weather starting.

Steering and Brake system

Brakes

Service brake features. Closed-loop hydrostatic drive system provides dynamic braking during operation. Secondary brake features include a spring-applied/hydraulically-released multiple disc type brake mounted on the drum drive gear reducer. The secondary brakes are activated by: button on the operator’s console; loss of hydraulic pressure in the brake circuit; or when the engine is shut down. A brake interlock system helps prevent driving through the secondary brake.


Final Drives

Final drive is hydrostatic with gear reducer to the drum and hydrostatic with differential and planetary gear reduction to each wheel.


Steering

A priority-demand hydraulic power-assist steering system provides smooth low-effort steering. The system always receives the power it needs regardless of other hydraulic functions.


Frame

Fabricated from heavy gauge steel plate and rolled sections, the frame is joined to the drum yoke at the articulation pivot. The articulation area is structurally reinforced and joined by hardened steel pins. Two vertical pins provide a steering angle of +/-30°, while a horizontal pin allows frame oscillation of +/-15°.


Roller

Standard dual amplitude

changeable from the operator’s station, expands the application range. Operate in high amplitude to get density on thick lifts in the fewest passes. Select low amplitude when operating next to structures, when approaching final density, or to avoid fracturing aggregates.


Vibratory System

Pod style weight housings are assembled and sealed at the factory to ensure cleanliness, longer bearing life and easier field exchange/service. Dual amplitude works efficiently in a wider range of applications. Changeable from operator’s station. Frequency 30 Hz (1800 vpm) matched to vibratory drum forces for maximum compaction results. Larger heavy-duty bearings for the eccentric weight shaft allow higher frequency for greater force. Oil bath lubrication of weight shaft and bearings for reduced maintenance. Vibratory system lockout at low engine speed. The vibratory system can be activated only when the engine speed will allow at least 1400 vpm. Improved isolation mounts allow more force to be transmitted to the ground and less vibration to the operator.


Patented Eccentric Weights

Simplified operation direction of weight shaft rotation determines amplitude—electric over hydraulic control from the operator’s station. Positive amplitude selection steel shot are repositioned inside hollow eccentric weight when operator changes amplitude. Improved reliability no chance of weights wedging together. System works every time. Longer service life no heavy weights to slam together, no chips to contaminate the system.

Serviceability

Wide-opening service doors for the engine compartment and radiator provide excellent access for daily maintenance check points. Tilting operator’s platform or cab allows for easy access to hydraulic pumps and valve blocks. Visual restriction indicators for hydraulic oil filter and air filter enhance maintenance efficiency. Pressure taps with quick connect fittings facilitate easy troubleshooting of all machine hydraulic systems. Additionally, remote lubrication fittings decrease maintenance time.


Operator’s Station

The operator’s station features an easy-to-reach propel lever that allows for low effort control of machine speed and direction. A vibratory system ON/OFF switch is conveniently installed on top of the propel lever for one-handed operation. The vibratory tachometer option provides an easy-to-see frequency rate on the panel behind the steering wheel. Operators benefit from unrestricted visibility to drum edges and to the rear of the sloped engine cover. The comfortable and durable seat is fully adjustable, equipped with flip-up arm rests and a 76 mm (3") wide retractable seat belt. An audible alarm and warning lights alert the operator to abnormal conditions in major engine and hydraulic systems.
