Pöttinger Torro 5700 D features overview
JUMBO: New 8-row pickup
The new 8-row pickup with a larger diameter and higher speed guarantees a 20% higher capacity from all JUMBO models. The collection area from the pickup tines to the rotor has also been optimised and adapted to the rotor capacity. Long-term lubrication and low-maintenance tine mounting channel make overall maintenance easier.
Capacity
Scraper floor gear
The scraper floor gear for the JUMBO range is located centrally and drives both sides of the scraper floor.
Reduced energy requirement
Simple but effective – a technical detail on the rotor discharge. The discharge end of the rotor is only 3.54” / 90 mm below the scraper floor. This protects the forage and enables the trouble-free loading of the loading chamber, especially when working in wet conditions. This conserves power and increases the flow rate.
The silage collector
The Powermatic loading rotor has a diameter of 31.5” / 800 mm and consists of 8 rows of teeth. The teeth are arranged in a helix in order to ensure jolt-free and smooth loading without torque peaks. The feed teeth ensure the continuous collection of the crop and the smooth preliminary pressing of the forage. This makes sure that the silage trailer is completely filled. The Powermatic loading rotor is supported on both sides with self-aligning roller bearings. On the drive side, the bearing is positioned between the rotor and the gear – reducing the load on the bearing.
Specially positioned scrapers
The scrapers are positioned and bolted into place individually. Placing the scrapers at an ideal distance from the rotor teeth reduces energy expenditure. The scrapers have a large surface area, which prevents the forage from being crushed.
Constant force progression
The constant force progression when loading without torque peaks is a feature of the JUMBO/TORRO. There are two integrated sensors for monitoring the status of loading. They check on the loading status and automatically control the scraper floor accordingly. This protects the drive chain and the forage.
Unique sensor on the front gate
A sensor on the front panel measures the loading pressure of damp, heavy grass and controls the scraper floor accordingly. This prevents mashing being caused by excessive pressure on the loading rotor.
Sensor on roof section
This sensor measures the load status of the trailer so that the driver does not have to do so. This significantly improves the filling of the loading chamber. The scraper floor can also be manually controlled, and it disengages when the trailer is full.
Scraper floor
The scraper floor has four chains. The tempered bands are separated and offset. The loading surface is a pressure impregnated, durable wooden floor. The boards are tongue-in-groove and are bolted to the frame.
Simple maintenance
The front scraper floor shafts can be lubricated from the side of the trailer (for the JUMBO range, this is also the case for the rear shaft).
Scraper floor transmission
A strong hydro motor provides the drive. The speed can be freely controlled. If required, the scraper floor can also be driven using a two-stage motor (standard on JUMBO10000). The drive shaft has four-way high-quality bushes.
D-type trailers (proportioners)
A pressure sensor in the beater rotor suspension measures the counter-pressure created when the beater rotor is unloading. If the limit is reached, the scraper floor automatically switches off, ensuring trouble-free unloading of forage. When the pressure on the beater rotor declines, the scraper floor speed is adjusted, and the speed of the tractor does not need to be changed. This cuts the driver’s workload.
Pick-up / Drawbar
Perfect ground hugging
The pneumatic castor rear wheels (16 x 6.5-8) are standard. The wheels sweep the ground on the same line as the tines, guiding the pickup perfectly through each hollow. Castor rear wheels enable excellent cornering.
TORRO: 6-row pickup
The pickup is controlled using two cam tracks made from steel with a solid centre. A control cap is integrated into the housing. The control rollers, two-row bearing rollers (diameter of 1.57” / 40 mm), are sturdy and designed for large amounts of forage. The pickup tines are swept back to prevent damage to turf, the throwing up of soil, and unnecessary wear on the tines. It protects the sward by adjusting to the contours of the ground: two-way height-adjustable castor wheels are in the optimum position for tine contour following. Two hinged support links give the pickup full mobility. In addition to this, spring suspension ensures low, soil-protecting ground pressure – suspension is available as an option. Clean forage is achieved thanks to tempered transfer plates that separate the dirt from the forage, protecting the chopping unit. Automatic cut-off of pickup drive in D-type trailers occurs if the pickup is raised, disconnecting the drive.
Universal tailgate – suitable for proportioning
The tailgate has double-acting hydraulic cylinders and is closed and locked hydraulically without a mechanical locking mechanism.
Rotor / cutting system
The swath roller encourages forage flow
A height-adjustable windguard with a swath roller ensures perfect forage flow even when loading is fast and the crop is short and wet.
TORRO – Easy Move
The chopping unit is lowered hydraulically either from the tractor seat or by pressing the button on the left-hand side of the wagon. Undo the bolting mechanism bolts and pivot the bank out to the side. Release the knives using the lever.
Short crop for productive forage
A precise and consistent cut is the basis for the best silage quality. The exceptional cutting quality of Pöttinger silage trailers has been confirmed in independent test reports. A unique solution at Pöttinger: The pivotable knife bank makes light work of changing the knives.
JUMBO – Easy Move
This unique-to-the-market swing out knife bank makes light work of changing the knives. World first: “autocut” automatic blade sharpening devices available for all JUMBO models.
A reassuring device
Time and cost pressures make machine idle time an expensive business. Foreign bodies are a danger to the most important elements of the machine – the rotor and chopping unit. Pöttinger protects the heart of the silage wagon with an innovative device – patented foreign-body security. Each knife is individually protected.
The original with serrated knives
The knives are made of hardened tool-steel and the serration on one side ensures a precise cut even if the knife edge is dulled. The forage is always cut cleanly and not torn apart due to its pull-back chopping action. The knife shape provides a continuous sliding cut. The new JUMBO knives with extra-strong backs and wide wave cut ensure a prolonged service life.
Dimension
Beater rotor gear
The beater rotor drive transmission is protected and on the right-hand side of the trailer. Two sturdy angular gear units and a chain transmit the power to the beater rotors. The drive shaft is secured with a cam clutch coupling with 1200 Nm on TORRO and 1500 Nm on JUMBO.
Inlet gear
The robust bevel gear unit is designed for high tractor power. The inlet gear splits the power flow. Power train A leads from the gear unit via a bevel gear running in an oil bath on to the loading rotor and then to the pickup. Power train B leads from the gear unit to the beater rotors. The connecting shafts are simply plugged in and are therefore easy to dismantle.
Drive shaft
The JUMBO and TORRO silage trailers are driven by a two-way wide angle drive shaft (p.t.o. shaft speed 1000 rpm.). The integrated cam clutch coupling activates immediately if overload occurs. After speed has been reduced, the coupling restores the original power train. The torque protection is an impressive 2100 Nm, which corresponds to a peak performance of almost 299 hp/220 kW on TORRO and 2500 Nm which corresponds 450 hp/330 kW on JUMBO.
Rotor gear
The rotor gear is an oversized bevel gear unit. The enclosed gear unit, running in an oil bath, is maintenance free. The drive system uses a floating axle with fine toothing. The rotor transmission is mounted outside on the rotor shaft, with the ideal bearing spacing on the rotor (less bending stress).
Loading
Every user wants high transport efficiency with a constant flow of loads. The automatic loading system delivered with the range fitted by Pöttinger ensures this. The forage is gently compressed when still in the feed channel and therefore the loading chamber can be filled perfectly.
Load sensing to save power
Pöttinger silage trailers can be fitted with load-sensing equipment. The required amount of oil is measured constantly and adapted to requirements. No oil heating, and power saving of up to 20 hp / 15 kW – high efficiency.
Power control
All functions can be controlled directly from the controller. Error messages are also displayed. There is also integrated data-logging.
POWER control
JUMBO and TORRO silage trailers are fitted out with a standard POWER control pad. The computer also contains ISOBUS software. You can use the ISOBUS software to execute other functions such as speed-dependent control of the jockey steering axle, and pressure-dependent, torque-controlled loading and unloading functions. Integrated diagnostic functions and error reports allow problems to be solved quickly. The joystick control makes it particularly easy to use – and takes work to a new level.
Iso control
The ISOBUS CONTROL offers additional functions for the professional farmer and agricultural contractor. Pivoted chopping unit alert. Torque gauge for controlling the automatic loading systems. Quick and precise tuning for different forage properties operated from the tractor seat. Locking of the steering axle dependent on speed and when reversing. All functions can also be controlled using the joystick.
Axle
Steering tandem axle with parabolic suspension
Parabolic suspension with large spring-to-axle spacing and compensator for height regulation. Ideal suspension hopping properties at the silo and smooth running in fields and on the road. Stable trailing linkages apply the braking and steering force. An advantage of parabolic suspension with additional cross stabilizer (option) and large spring-to-axle spacing is better handling control on slopes. The 4-wheel pneumatic brake system with ALB controls ensures safe braking at high speed and with heavy loads. ABS available on option. Hydraulic brakes can be supplied for some countries.
Tandem axle with hydropneumatic suspension
Hydropneumatic suspension with levelling valve for 25 shtn / 23 t total permissible weight. Ideal suspension hopping properties at the silo and smooth running in fields and on the road. Strong trailing linkages apply the braking and steering force. An advantage is the wide spring-to-spring spacing – 47.24” / 1200 mm front and 42.72” / 1085 mm back – for safe handling on inclines. Maximum ride comfort on- and off-road. Best slope efficiency despite high centre of gravity due to high lateral torsion. Large axle clearance up to 10.63” / 270 mm for demanding tracks and poor road conditions. Robust chassis for extremely high loads. With steering axle or forced steering.
Tridem chassis soil protection
Protecting the soil is the first priority. The Pöttinger tridem chassis distributes high loads across a large area so that the pressure on the ground remains low. The large axle regulation is a special feature. A hydropneumatic suspension enables an axle pendulum swing of 10.63" / 270 mm. This allows the axle load to be distributed evenly. The trailer benefits from reduced side forces and runs quietly – with steering on both sides. Tests show that this saves fuel. The axle regulation ensures even wear of brakes on all axles.
8-wheel chassis – perfect soil protection
Heavy machinery and high wheel pressure make soil protection a central issue. The 8-wheel chassis significantly reduces soil compaction. On this unique chassis the wheels sit in pairs on the self-aligning axles. The rear axle pairs trail freely, thereby protecting both the wheels and the turf. A hydraulic leveller with patented pendulum swing ensures optimum pressure distribution. This improves slope efficiency. The hydraulic suspension optimises driving comfort, and pneumatic or hydraulic braking systems ensure a high braking performance even at speed. Due to the lower platform height in comparison with 26.5” tyres, the loading rotor can move more freely.
