Amazone ED 3000 Special overview

Amazone ED 3000 Special features overview

Contour sowing unit

The AMAZONE Contour sowing unit is ideally suited to both mulch sowing and when working after the plough. The outstanding feature of the AMAZONE Contour sowing unit is the low singling disc position with a drop height of only 140 mm. The sophisticated coulter technology creates a seed furrow, virtually free from any organic matter. The sowing coulter undercuts the clearing disc, resulting in a well re-consolidated wedge shaped groove. These are the optimum pre-conditions but, under very light and sandy soils, the additional carrying wheel can be fitted on to the Contour sowing coulter to prevent it sinking too deeply into the soil. In this way, the placement depth can be maintained significantly better.

Farmflex tyres

Ball-bearing mounted Farmflex rubber tyres in various sizes are available for the sowing units. The Farmflex tyre is best suited for sowing maize following the plough in conjunction with pre-closers.

Tyre

High-quality plastic components and optimum sealing

High-quality plastic components made from different materials pair together and are responsible for the superb sealing between the vacuum chamber and the singling disc. This pairing together of different materials guarantees a long service life with optimum sealing.

Equipment & Digital

Different hydraulic variants

Depending on the choice made, the hydraulic system is available in three versions. There is the entry-level standard hydraulics, where every function has to be actuated from the spool valve on the tractor. For tractors with a limited number of spool valves, the Comfort hydraulics can be selected. Here, the functions of wing and track marker folding can be combined via an electric changeover valve supplied by one spool valve. For those customers who intend to operate all functions via the terminal or the optional joystick, then the Profi hydraulics are available.

Rear-view camera available as an option

Camera systems help in enclosed situations and contribute to the safety of the machine. This applies both to road traffic and also when manoeuvring.

Multi-function joystick

All the functions in the operating menu can be also actuated via the AmaPilot multi-function joystick or other ISOBUS joysticks (AUX-N).

Amatron 3

The operator terminal controls the drill as well as monitoring the tramline functions. This also includes a sensible obstacle solution for the track markers. With the new Task Controller, the jobs can be prepared comfortably on the farm PC and then transferred via a USB stick to the terminal in an ISO-XML format and then loaded. By means of the AMATRON 3 and the ED, via ISO-XML or Shape files, part-area, site-specific maps can be processed.

The future today

In addition, application maps are becoming more and more popular where the seed rates can be matched to the small-scale situations in the field – such as hills and hollows or changes in soil type. Task Controller (via ISO-XML) or GPS-Maps, as an option for the AMATRON 3 terminal, allows the simple implementation of application maps. A graphic display of the map in the background offers a good overview.

The benefits

The CCI ISOBUS terminal from AMAZONE is the result of the cooperation with several other manufacturers of agricultural machinery who are joint participants in the Competence Centre ISOBUS eV (CCI). With CCI, AMAZONE and its partners have laid the foundation to introduce ISOBUS into practice. The CCI 100 is the basis to convert all AMAZONE machinery and implements successively to the ISOBUS standard.

The new dimension in control and monitoring

With the AMAPAD operator terminal, AMAZONE offers an entirely new and high-class solution for GPS application such as automated GPS based part-width section control and Precision Farming applications. AMAPAD features a large, especially ergonomic, 12.1" touchscreen. With the unique “Mini View” concept, applications that do not need to be actuated but which, however, need to be monitored, are clearly shown at the side. If needs be, these can be enlarged by “fingertip” widening. The possibility also exists to customise the display, a feature which rounds off the exceptional layout of this operator terminal. In addition to GPS-Switch pro part-width section control, a high-quality professional manual light bar guidance system is also installed as standard. GPS-Track pro can also be upgraded to an automated steering system.

Harrow

AMAZONE Stripper Finger Design

The AMAZONE stripper finger design is of particular advantage because it can easily be adjusted. Only 5 steps are quite sufficient to achieve the optimum position. The stripper finger adjustment has been proven to be insensitive to see shape and speed with 85% of all maize varieties available on the market being singled at the same stripper finger setting. For monitoring the singling process, there is either a large inspection window and/or an opto sensor positioned inside the housing. This serves as a seed detection system for the singling disc. In case, due to an error, the deviation is higher than 10%, an error message is sent and displayed on the terminal.

AMAZONE SmartService 4.0

In the world of evermore complex machine design, AMAZONE, via SmartService 4.0, is utilising the technology made possible by digital VR and AR technologies to further enhance its learning, training and repair processes in the sector of technical customer service as well as assisting its customers in carrying out routine maintenance work. This realisation is carried out through training using Virtual Reality (VR) and via the possibility of real time communication with service specialists from AMAZONE along with the creation and provision of learning contents by utilising Augmented Reality (AR).

Coulter

Drag (Suffolk) and Single Disc Fertiliser Coulters

Both the drag (Suffolk) and single disc fertiliser coulters have been designed for tough operational conditions. The strong tension spring (160 kg) protects the coulter from stone damage and helps maintain an even placement depth. The depth is set quickly without tools by simply resetting a pin. The special clamp arrangement allows the positioning of the fertiliser coulter where desired in relation to the sowing coulter. Due to its large diameter, the single-disc fertiliser coulter is especially well suited for mulch sowing conditions. It does not feature any scrapers and thus rotates blockage-free even in extreme situations. The Boron steel disc offers high durability.

Hopper

Seed Placement

When operated after the plough, in mulch or direct sowing, the ED precision air seeder is especially characterised by its very precise seed placement. Combined with a rear or front hopper for the application of fertiliser, and in working widths of 3 to 6 m, the ED is a highly-efficient sowing system.

The top benefits

Particularly precise placement due to low drop height of 10 and 14 cm. Numerous singling discs for a great number of seeds ensure the optimum performance. The wedge-shaped furrow prevents displacement of the seed. Reliable seed coverage in all soils, thanks to different embedding tools. Rear or front hopper for the optimum weight distribution at large working widths. Single seeding combined with fertiliser application, from choice with mechanical or electric drive. 4 to 12 sowing units, each of 60 l, and fertiliser hoppers from 900 to 2,000 l ensure high acreage outputs. Comfortable matching of the application rates on the move from the tractor cab. Micro plus pneumatic micro-granular applicator for the application of micro-granules and micro-fertiliser. Hydraulically-driven and integrated filling auger for the filling with all types of fertiliser.

LED work lights

Good visibility after dark is offered by the optional LED work lights attached on and in the fertiliser hopper, lighting both the operating area and also the interior of the fertiliser hopper.

Calibration button

By interaction with the ISOBUS terminal, a calibration test to determine the precise application rate of the fertiliser can be quickly done. The complete calibration procedure is carried out conveniently at the left-hand side of the machine.

Fertiliser equipment

For metering the fertiliser, the ED Special is equipped with a mechanical drive, whereas the ED Super has an electric system. With the electric drive, the fertiliser rate can also be variably matched on the move. In conjunction with the electric metering drive, the calibration button is standard at the ED Super. The optional internal hopper lights and the LED working lights allow operation also at night. Via the loading board, the rear fertiliser hopper is simply and safely accessed. For all models, a loading board with an integrated transport box is also available.

Filling auger

For filling the ED with fertiliser, AMAZONE offers a hydraulically-driven filling auger, integrated within the machine concept. In this way, fill times can be reduced and the work rate of the machine further increased. The filling auger is available for all models of ED. Due to the filling height of just 70 cm, the conveying auger can be filled also via a simple tipping trailer. The drive and control of the filling auger is carried out via the hydraulic system of the tractor.

Fertiliser hopper fill level check

For an easy fill level check, the fertiliser hopper is equipped with large inspection windows at the front and at the rear. In addition, an electronic fill level control of the rear fertiliser hopper can be chosen, reminding the driver to refill the fertiliser hopper right on time. Via the weighing technology, AMAZONE offers an especially comfortable solution for the ED 6000-2C Super, which allows the constant measuring of the fill level. In addition, an exact record is possible as to how much fertiliser has been needed for that specific application. In particular, it is agricultural contractors that very much appreciate this convenient solution.

Machine overlapping operation

Control of all the important functions on the ED can be achieved via the AMATRON 3 ISOBUS terminal, including both operational functions and functions for the adjustment of the machine, such as calibration of the seed rate or fertiliser application rate. AMATRON 3 is an ISOBUS terminal that can be used from seed drills to fertiliser spreaders and crop protection sprayers, enabling the optimum application rate control and operation.

Accurate placement of the seed

After the success of the GPS-Switch system on fertiliser spreaders and sprayers, sowing now is the focus for the use of this technology. For the ED, the on/off switching of each individual unit is controlled via GPS. In this way, the stress on the driver is reduced, and an improvement in the operational performance is achieved, especially in small fields with many headland turns.
