Pöttinger Primo 400 L overview

Capacity

Chassis and Construction

The chassis of the new self-loading wagon is a bolted frame construction using 160x65x40x5 sections of fine-grained carbon steel. JUMBO technology side wall panels (0.75 mm thick) provide higher stability. Additional rigidity is ensured by the closely-spaced side wall pillars. Smooth, slightly sloping front panels ensure that all the forage is unloaded. Pöttinger provides a folding extension system for low clearances when driving into sheds. Hydraulic cylinders are available on both sides, allowing the extensions to be raised and lowered automatically. The tailgate is operated hydraulically as standard. A portioning system featuring fixed telescopic struts is also available. To prevent forage loss, additional ropes are spanned between the slats. The wagon can be loaded really tight thanks to a tarpaulin over the rear end of the loading chamber.

Hydraulic tailgate

A well thought-out and comfortable solution for the tailgate. EUROBOSS wagons come equipped with a hydraulic tailgate as standard. The tailgate is operated conveniently from the tractor seat using a powerful hydraulic cylinder. A hydraulic check valve locks it in place, eliminating the need for a latch and pin system. Additionally, the tailgate can be supplied with telescopic struts for distributing fodder inside sheds. Ration for ration, the wagon can be discharged through the tailgate held in a fixed position.

Electro-hydraulic operation

Pöttinger has already made a name for itself with self-loading wagons that are comfortable to operate. The control unit operates all loader wagon functions electro-hydraulically.

Pick-up / Drawbar

Unique pickup suspension system

The pickup is the key component for contamination-free forage collection. Pöttinger has proven the excellence of ground hugging, forage pick-up and loading in numerous tests. The result: a unique pickup system with precision-engineered details.

Wagon Features

With its working width of 1.8 metres, this wagon is also suitable for large swaths. The tines are mounted on five tine tubes. The centrally-positioned support discs provide the tine tubes with sufficient stability. A tine spacing of just 57 mm ensures that the forage is picked up reliably. The optimized, trailed tine control system minimises losses due to disintegration.

Feeding Tine Control

Each feeding tine bar is controlled by a cam track at either end of the rotor shaft. The conveyor combs are mounted on hardened rings and wear-resistant plain bearings. The cam tracks are also hardened to withstand extreme stresses. When the pickup is raised, the loading rotor is switched off automatically by a dog coupling.

DIRECT CONTROL (load sensing compatible)

will be available as an option from autumn 2004. The wagon functions can be controlled direct. Hydraulic connection: 1 single-acting unit with pressure-free return.

Rotor / cutting system

The dual-row knife bank

The dual-row knife bank is fitted with 16 knives in the top row and 15 knives in the lower row. The dual row arrangement spreads the power required over two phases so overall power consumption is lower. A preselect switch on the control panel lets you pivot the chopping system in and out hydraulically (available as option). Standard models feature manual pivoting using a lever.

Knife replacement made easy

Operate just one hand lever to release all the knives for servicing. The knife bank is also available with hydraulic pivoting mechanism. A hydraulic cylinder swings the knife bank out; it is retracted again by a nitrogen-filled cylinder operated by Select Control. The system is operated comfortably from the tractor seat.

Pivoting knife bank

The patented pivoting EASY MOVE knife bank is also now available with EUROBOSS loader wagons. You don’t even have to bend down to change or clean the knives.

Dimension

Drawbar and transmission

It has got to really shift. Well-developed solutions allow you to hitch up to the tractor quickly and safely. The transmission components are often a weak point. Not at Pöttinger. The driveline is protected to a high torque and has been tested at high working stresses in the new Pöttinger testing centre. The height of the universal drawbar can be adjusted using two spindles. A hinged drawbar is also available. Automatic interlocks prevent the hinged drawbar from lowering while it is being unhitched. It is also not possible for the drawbar to raise of its own accord in the clamp. The drawbar can bear a load of 900 kg. Continuous loading is possible, even during really tight cornering, thanks to the wide-angle PTO shaft. A cam-type clutch protects the driveline against overloading. When activated, the clutch disengages immediately. After the PTO speed has been lowered again, the clutch engages to transmit the original level of power.

Axle

A wide track width

A wide track width is especially advantageous for working on slopes. On the low-loader version, the single axle has a track width of 2020 mm, while the tandem axle measures 2130 mm. An inertia brake is supplied as standard equipment, and overrunning brakes, along with hydraulic or pneumatic brakes, are also available.
