Pöttinger Faro 3500 L overview

Pöttinger Faro 3500 L features overview

Universal tailgate

The tailgate is closed hydraulically from inside the tractor. The tailgate closes automatically. There is no mechanical locking mechanism.

Capacity

Sensor ① on the front panel

Even when loading damp, heavy grass, the crop is not “mashed” by excessive pressure on the loading rotor.

Pick-up / Drawbar

Pickup

High driving speeds necessitate a reliable and powerful pickup. Only a clean crop can guarantee a trouble-free fermentation process and silage that is easy to digest. Optimum ground hugging and protective forage collection and transfer have been tested in practice for many years at Pöttinger. The result: a unique pickup with sophisticated details.

Two-way tine control

The pickup is controlled using two cam tracks made from steel with a solid centre. A control cap and a service cap are integrated into the housing. The control rollers, two-row, permanently lubricated groove bearings (diameter: 1.57" / 40 mm), are sturdy and designed for large amounts of forage. The pickup tines are swept back to prevent damage to turf, the throwing up of soil and unnecessary wear on the tines.

Spring-suspension tandem axles

The compound suspension optimally distributes the ground pressure over both axles. When the trailer travels over large bumps in the ground, the force is distributed over both axles rather than being absorbed by the limit stops. Huge leaf springs (9 springs) provide the necessary safety. Excellent performance in fields, on roads, and when entering the horizontal silo. Spring spacing: 43.31” / 1,100 mm.

Rotor / cutting system

Easy Move ... the cutting unit

A precise and consistent cut is the basis for the best silage quality. The exceptional cutting quality of Pöttinger silage trailers has been confirmed in independent test reports. A unique solution at Pöttinger: the pivotable knife bank is exceptionally user-friendly.

Knife maintenance made easy

This unique-to-the-market pivotable knife bank is an option to the range. You can change the knives standing up.

You can’t get simpler than this

Easy lowering of knife bank by pressing the button on the left-hand side of the trailer. Undo the bolting mechanism bolts and pivot the bank out to the side. Release the knives using the lever.

The original with a serrated knife

The knives are made of hardened steel. The serration on one side ensures a precise cut even if the knife edge is dulled. The forage is always cut cleanly and not torn apart. The knife shape provides a continuous cut along the entire length.

Knife security

Time and cost pressures make machine idle time an expensive business. Foreign bodies are a danger to the most important element of the machine – the cutting unit. Pöttinger protects the heart of the silage trailer with an innovative setup – patented foreign body security. Each knife is individually secured.

Dimension

FARO – a rotor trailer with great technology

Enthusiasm for development is as strong as ever at Pöttinger. A medium-sized silage trailer requiring lower horsepower has been developed in the form of the new FARO trailer. The name “FARO” is derived from the Spanish or Italian word for beacon – “faro”. This silage trailer is the way to go for grassland areas, and is intended for tractors of 85 hp (63 kW) or higher.

Putting it through its paces

The performance of the drive elements is tested in the transmission test. The operating loads on the transmission chain are simulated. Transmission performance of up to 340 hp (250 kW) and torques of up to 5,000 Nm can be achieved independently of revs.

Loading rotor transmission

The loading rotor transmission is protected and on the right-hand side of the trailer. The drive shaft is secured with a cam clutch coupling with 1,200 Nm.

Inlet gear

The robust, spiral toothed gear is ideally designed. The drive line leads from a single-row high-performance roller chain to the loading rotor and then on to the pickup.

Drive shaft

The FORO silage trailers are driven by a one-way wide-angle drive shaft (p.t.o. shaft speed 1,000 rpm.). The integrated cam clutch coupling becomes active immediately if overloading occurs. After speed has been reduced the coupling restores the original drive line.

The scraper floor transmission

is positioned on the side and is driven by the tractor hydraulics. The speed can be freely controlled from the operating console.

Torque protection

The torque is 1,400 Nm. The drive shaft shuts itself off if this value is exceeded. This system protects the entire transmission.

Loading

Users want a high volume of forage with even proportioning. In FARO silage trailers, the forage must already be compacted in the feed channel. The automatic loading system (optional) ensures that the loading chamber is optimally filled. Standard for trailers with roof profiles.

Automatic system to help loading

The constant force progression when loading without torque peaks is a feature of the FARO. There are two integrated sensors for monitoring the status of loading. They check on the loading status and automatically control the scraper floor accordingly. This protects the transmission chain.

Sensor ② on roof section

This sensor measures the load status of the trailer so that the driver does not have to. This significantly improves the filling of the loading chamber. The scraper floor can also be manually controlled.

“Trailer full” signal

When the trailer is full, the pressure on the tailgate causes the scraper floor to be switched off. This prevents the trailer from being overloaded.

Load sensing to save power

Pöttinger silage trailers can be fitted with load-sensing equipment. The required quantity of oil and the pump pressure are measured constantly and adjusted in line with requirements. This saves up to 20 hp (15 kW).

Unloading

L-type trailers Automatic unloading system: Sequence control of tailgate and scraper floor. The wide opening enables quick unloading. A uniform carpet of forage is a prerequisite for perfect compaction at the silo. The automatic unloading system for proportioning trailers takes the stress off the driver and protects the machine.

Automatic unloading system – for smooth distribution

A pressure sensor in the loading rotor suspension measures the pressure created when the loading rotor is unloading. If the limit is reached the scraper floor automatically switches off. When the pressure on the loading rotor falls, the scraper floor switches back on. Trouble-free unloading of forage. This reduces the driver's workload. The cam clutch coupling torque is 1,200 Nm.

EUROPROFI – silage trailers for professionals

Silage trailer technology is constantly evolving. The new generation of trailers is considerably more powerful. The EUROPROFI represents an excellent development for modern operators who value comfort and power. It is suitable for tractors from 100 to 180 hp or 74 to 132 kW.

Cost-effective horsepower

The active feed height of the rotor is an important detail for the user: the relationship between loading performance and horsepower is particularly good in the case of the EUROPROFI.

Direct control

User-friendly electro-hydraulic controls for all silage trailer functions. Standard: Controls for: Pickup Pivoting drawbar Pivoting of cutting unit Scraper floor Scraper floor speed "Trailer full" signal Tailgate Automatic unloading system Optional: controls for: Dry forage extension

Axle

Pneumatic brakes

The 4-wheel pneumatic brake system with automatic load-dependent braking system (ALB) controls ensures safe braking at high speed and with heavy loads.

Jockey steering axle (optional)

Protects the tyres and turf. Reduced traction when cornering. When reversing or driving at speed, the steering axle can be locked into place using a separate hydraulic fitting.
